Gustav Klimt’s portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer is a feast for the eyes.  Silver and gold with hints of greens and red make for a rich palette, and I love the eye motif on her dress.  There’s no mistaking that we are in Vienna in the fin-de-siecle: the painting is Freudian in its existence between dreams and reality.  The Byzantine influence also fascinates me - the painting seems ancient and modern all at once.
